About Us & Key Personnel

SGH has been in business since 1978, founded by Kevan Howarth, the MD of a large Bolton based toolmaker. His son, Stephen Howarth was an apprentice at the same firm and joined his father in setting up the business, becoming the Managing Director shortly after 2000. SGH was bought by Jalex Futures Ltd in 2024, investing in people, facilities and equipment. SGH operates over 5 sites in Bolton, Greater Manchester including production facilities, warehousing & dispatch, offices and clean room.

As part of our investment plan in SGH, we have invested in both capital equipment upgrades, but also the strength of the management team leading us to our next phase of growth.

Martin Jones

Martin joined as Managing Director in November 2024 to lead the future development of SGH following the retirement of Stephen Howarth.  He is a highly experienced executive with extensive experience in the plastics industry.  After starting his career in Engineering and Quality management Martin progressed to account management roles working closely with customers, and then General Management and directorships.  He has over 20 years experience of leading significant and diverse teams to new heights of performance, innovation and excellence and has built out the new SGH management team.

Heather Powers

Heather is our Production Manager, overseeing all areas of operation at SGH from resource planning to machine, material and time slot allocation. Heather joined us from Siemens in 2025, bringing her experience to ensure production runs smoothly and was responsible for managing the implementation of our company wide MRP system.

Billy Steele

Billy is the Toolroom Manager at SGH, joining us from Microsystems in 2025, where he held the same position. He liaises with clients on new tooling requirements, maintenance and servicing, working closely with Heather.

Paul Stansfield

Paul has been an invaluable part of SGH for over a decade, and manages all our complex, cross divisional non-operational (internal) projects as Projects Manager. Paul is dedicated to projects that make SGH better, from lowering energy consumption (machine cycle times, solar panel implementation, reduces equipment draw) to complex machine moves and multi-discipline projects.

Kelly Brown

Kelly is our Logistics and Warehousing Manager, a job she started in nearly three decades ago. Kelly knows every SKU’s inside out, and our clients logistics team can trust Kelly to know exactly what they want and when. She works closely with Heather on ensuring OTIF rates are maintained.

In 2026, Kelly is overseeing a warehouse overhaul with a full Kanban system, bar-coding and FIFO storage system to manage our warehousing capability we provide to key clients.

Jon Hacking

Jon joined us in 2025 to spearhead our renewed investment in production quality as our Quality Manager. Our global clients have understandable high standards, and Jon ensures we meet them. From constant gold standard review against output, to maintaining and enhancing our accreditations. In addition to our ISO:9001, Jon has already implemented ISO:14001 to enhance our environmental credentials since joining, and is now moving onto ISO:13485 to further our medical offering alongside our Class 8 cleanroom.

Yvette Beaumont

Yvette started with SGH over two decades ago, and has run the office alongside Joanna for much of that time. They now jointly run our FinOps team.

Joanne is also a two decade ever-presence within the SGH team, starting work on the production floor. She nows shares the responsibility of FinOps alongside Yvette.
